Where is it?

Ko Racha Yai, located 1 hour away from the Chalong Pier has become a Phuket scuba diving classic. Consisting of white sandy beaches and a tropical green jungle, Racha is a small Island only 15km south of Phuket. The island is home to two main beaches - Patok Beach and Siam Bay - both of which offer gorgeous views and plenty of opportunities for swimming, sunbathing, and relaxing.

Diving in Racha Yai

Racha Yai is also known for its excellent snorkeling and diving opportunities. The waters surrounding the island are home to a wide variety of marine life, including colorful fish, sea turtles, and even sharks. The most popular dive sites on the island include "Bay 1," "Bay 2," and "Lucy's Reef," all of which offer a unique and unforgettable underwater experience.

Should you go diving in Racha Yai?

With an abundance of beginner-friendly dive sites as well as difficult ones for experienced divers, the island is particularly well-liked by both scuba divers and snorkeler. The shelter the bays provide makes it a dive option all year round. It makes a perfect spot for SSI and PADI Open-water dive courses for both kids and adults. 

Racha Yai is known for its crystal-clear waters and diversity of marine life. You can see everything from incredible hard coral formations to sunken motorbikes and a shipwreck. After your dives, you can relax and enjoy lunch whilst gazing at the stunning tropical views Racha Yai provides.

Marine life

During your dive, you will find an array of colorful reef fish ranging from Parrotfish to big Batfish and Moray Eels. Ghost Pip fish and Sone fish are considered as one of the rarer visitors at Racha Yai.
